Hawaiian Ink kit
The Hawaiian Ink Kit
Kits come with 4 individually prepared inks - Olena, Patina, Rainbow Eucalyptus, Copper - and Hala brushes lovingly sourced on Kauai.
This kit contains the aesthetic of Kauai, with its clear blue skies, lush mountains, red dirt and warm sunshine. Olena is Hawaiian for turmeric, and was a canoe plant brought to Hawaii by ancient Polynesians for its medicinal uses. This bright yellow ink is produced with ground Olena and pure alcohol. The green, Patina, is a green made from metal scrap recalling the sugar plantations and their massive mills that once dotted the landscape. The Rainbow Eucalyptus tree, although not native to Hawaii, has the most rainbow beautiful bark but the ink is more reminiscent of the red dirt of Kauai that is the signature color of the Waimea Canyon. As one of the most remote places in the world, the Hawaiian ink Kit would not be complete without the blue of the waters and skies. Copper ink is an ink that requires between 6 and 8 weeks to make.
Please shake before use. Best used on watercolor paper or other porous substances. Olena Ink is light sensitive and will fade in direct sunlight.
